Support our work to provide vital social and community services, through the Big Collection. Every day The Salvation Army supports thousands of people in desperate need, including people who are homeless, families facing hardship, victims of violence and abuse, and lonely older people.

By giving to the Big Collection you can help us to raise the funds we need to carry on our work. Our collectors – Salvation Army members, friends and volunteers – are going door-to-door or on the High Street in September.

Please be as generous as you can as 100% of all donations to the Big Collection will directly support The Salvation Army’s work to help people in need. Your donation will be spent entirely on our work with vulnerable people across the UK.

Close to a century and a half of caring for people in need, The Salvation Army today is helping more people than ever before. In the current difficult economic circumstances, we are already seeing large increases in the number o f people needing the basic necessities of life - food, shelter, comfort and warmth.

We don't judge or condemn, we are here to help people.

Here are some of the vital, caring services The Salvation Army delivers on a typical day:

  • Meals for the hungry
  • Beds for homeless people
  • Assistance and training in finding employment
  • Safe refuge for victims of violence and abuse
  • Help and rehabilitation for people with drug and alcohol addictions
  • Day centres and loving homes for older people
  • Shelter and practical help to families and young people
  • Practical and emotional support through or emergency vehicles to the emergency services at times of disaster
  • Practical and emotional support to victims of human trafficking
  • Finding and reuniting missing family members
  • Chaplaincy services to people in hospital, in prison and on remand
  • Practical and emotional support to members of the Armed Services

This provides a great opportunity for you, who are taxpayers, to increase the money you give to house-to-house collections by at least 25% by allowing us to reclaim the tax. If you wish to donate by cheque or Charities Aid Foundation (CAF) voucher, they should make their donation payable to ‘The Salvation Army’.
